did you notice...

I have posted something new everyday, except one, for the past two week. But some days I posted twice, so I think that makes up for missing a day. Well that was a little challenge I did for myself. It seems to be working and now I am getting in the habit of posting more.

This card was a mess-up when I was making the cuckoo clock. Notice it's the same card turned the other way. Just switched the stamps.

My problem is however that I waste a lot of time. There are so many things that I want/need to do, but never find the time. Do you know those people that seem to have more hours in their day? They get more accomplished in a day than I do a week. Now I don't need to go to that extreme, but I would like to manage my time more effectively. I don't know that it's in my chemistry. I remember during my school days I always got in trouble for daydreaming and not staying on task. My report cards always said " Michelle needs to stay on task or Michelle needs to control her talking". So really not much has changed since then. I always thought my kindergarten teacher liked me the best because I always got to sit with her and I had my own "special" seat. Now as a teacher, I realize she was just trying to keep me out of trouble and save herself from the headache I would cause.

I have tons of time in my day after I get home from work. Yet, some days I barely get anything done. I have tried lists~ the paper and pencil old school kind. That did help me remember what I needed to get done, but yet I still waste alot of time. I'll hop online to check one thing and then an hour or more later I will remember what else I was going to do. I have things that HAVE to be done~deadlines and such~ but I wait until the VERY last second to do them and then stess out. I was always the one in school that would start the night before it was due. Why do I cause myself such stress?!?!

So I need your help. Do you have any tips or tricks on time managment? Is there a good book to read that would give me some pointers. ANYTHING!! Thanks guys...I know you'll have some good advice.

oh gosh, I'm not sure I'll be of any help. Sometimes I feel the same way! I definitely waste so much time doing things that aren't important. I have to live by lists, but I try to make a list each day of what I have to get done that day, what needs to get done that week, etc. Then I alot time to do the tasks. Not sure if that will help!!

Hey Michelle! I am also a huge list maker. I try to make small lists each day of things that *have* to get done and I keep checking back with it all day to make sure I am getting them done. And I try to not go to bed until every single thing for that day is done. Another thing that helps sometimes is making a schedule of what I need to do. I give myself a certain amount of time to complete a task (and even set a timer) and then when the timer goes off, I make sure I am done or close to being done, or I adjust my schedule to give myself more time. That seems to reduce the number of times that I wander off task or go on to other things that I don't need to do right then, since I know I only have a certain amount of time to get it done! I hope these give you some ideas of things to try! :) Let us know how it goes!

I cannot (!) help you with your time management, believe me!

However, I'm liking the owls the more I see people using them! This idea is really cute!

I make a Mon-Sun list and I put the task in the day before it's due so I don't get down to the wire. My friend's daughter sets a timer to clean and it makes her clean faster (but still thoroughly). I haven't tried it yet but I plan to. I also have found that the more I make cards, the less I get done so I make dates to 'play' by looking at my calendar one and one half months in advance and make a list of what birthdays are 'due' so I have them ready. By the front door, I have a basket for cards and I go ahead and sign my card and address it and I don't put a stamp on it and I write the date I want to mail it where the stamp goes so that I get it there on time. I see the basket daily so this helps.

OMG! We sound like time wasting twins. I do ALL those same things ~ Everyday!!! I have tried the whole list writing thing and all that did was waste paper. It must be something about the creative mind not being able to focus. At least that is what I tell my hubby. LOL
